Change of Plans

Dr. Walker called this morning, and Ramsey is not coming home after all.  They took him off of IV pain meds two days ago and today he is not doing as well as yesterday so they are keeping him in order to find out what is going on.  I will update again as soon as I know more.

Meanwhile, Tessa came up dead lame this morning.  She has a very, very small wound on the front of her leg just above the coronet band.  I believe it is a puncture wound, caused by a small twig out in the woods.  The fact that she came up this lame in less than 24 hours has me concerned that there could be something up in there still.  The vet is on her way here to see her.

I don't meant to sound paranoid or crazy, but I think I could start to develop a persecution complex if this keeps up much longer.

  2. Oh No! Your trail ride yesterday was really cool! I hope Tessa will be ok, and that little Ramsey better be getting well soon!

  3. Oh boy. You do get very twitchy when something bad like this is going on. Every negative thing seems like a flare going up in the night sky and you become a little crazy trying to figure out if it's a Big Deal or not, and what you should or shouldn't do. Good luck, keep us posted.

  4. You don't sound super paranoid. A lot of stuff has piled on this last three weeks. The Vet will figure out Tessa's problem and Ramsey is safer at Cornell. All of us who follow you are sending good thoughts! So here's another virtual hug.

  5. I'm so glad you called the vet, puncture wounds near a joint are nothing to fool around with, even small ones. I hope and pray it's something that will heal quickly.
Sounds like she's doing really well under saddle again, I'm sure you're loving that! Emma looks just precious in her hunters-beware attire :)

  7. Developing a persecution complex certainly would be understandable at this point - and yet I know you are doing your utmost to let your patients feel your calm and positive energy instead of your stress and worry. I wish you strength. Let's all keep visualizing those future trail rides with all four equines... willing it to happen!
