All Quiet On the Eastern Front

Ramsey's condition is about the same today, which I am taking as a good thing.  Every day out from the surgery without trouble is good.  It still hasn't been decided whether he will need a splint or not.  We will see.

The vets are going to try weaning him off the heavy duty pain drugs and the fluids.  He has been getting a cocktail of  several antibitocs and pain drugs, including Fentanyl, which is an extremely potent narcotic.  The sooner he goets off the IV meds, the better.  I am going to try to visit him again soon, unfortunatly, he is an hour and a half in the wrong direction from where I work.

It was a quiet day on the farm today, which was good.  We all needed it.  Listening to Emma as she first called and called for her baby and later began mourning his lose has been hard.  From an academic view, hearing her and the different brays she used has been very interesting, there were at least four that I could distinguish.  Someday, I will tell you about them.  However, I am just not up for "interesting" at the moment and I am glad that there were only a couple of brays today.  I normally love hearing my donkeys talk, but not this time.  Emma is continuing to stay very close to Tessa, but she did relax enough to really enjoy a lengthy scratching session.  She will be well.

  1. So glad to hear that your 'baby boy' is holding his own. What a stressful experience you are going through. Just know that all of Ramsey's many fans are rooting for and cheering him on in his recovery. Take care of yourself -- he's going to need his human mom when he gets home. :-)

  5. Sending hugs to that little Ramsey ... and to him mom, Emma. It must be difficult for you to be so far away from Ramsey, but you have the peace of mind knowing he is getting the best care possible.

  6. "Get well" vibes winging their way across the Atlantic as I type. I also echo NG04's reminder for you to look after yourself, as worry wears you down really quickly. Lynda in Scotland

    1. Hi Mel, I just spoke with Cornell and they said yes, you can send a check. If you do so please make the check out to Cornell University and write "Ramsey Maxwell" in the memo section. Also include a note saying that the check is intended for Ramsey's care and that he was admitted on Nov. 1st. Thank you for all of your help and support. It really means a lot.

  10. I continue to keep Ramsey near to my heart right now. As much as I hate that Emma is confused and missing him, it makes me look so forward to their sweet reunion. Get well, Ramsey baby!!! We want you HOME!
