A Very Brief Reprieve

It warmed all the way up to 20 degrees this afternoon and no wind - just like a tropical paradise.  It was the first decent day we have had this year.  It's not going to last, I can hear the wind picking up again and, by morning, it will be back below 0, but it was nice while it lasted.

First up, a good nap.

Next, I put a piece of fence wire across the end of the driveway and let the crew out to play on the snow-blowed paths.

Much running around and chaos ensued.  I took video, but my computer continues to crash every time I try to upload any video.

I had lots of help all day....

Connor was absolutely appalled.  A true-blue Border Collie, through and through.

  2. I'm so glad your babies got the chance to nap in the sun, stretch their legs for a bit, and help you with your chores. I think I would have been laughing much of the time I was watching them enjoy themselves. Thanks for the smile.

  3. A preview of good days to come. Have you been able to get out and go to work? That little bitty car doesn't look like it would be good for snowy roads.

  6. All those lovely creatures... enjoying the -- what? FIRST decent day this year?!? I would say that by now you double-deserve the most perfectly beautiful spring, summer, fall and (next) winter in history! Sending melting thoughts...

  7. P.S. Is it a leash that kept Connor back at the house (lest the true-blue BC try to clean up the "chaos"...)?

    1. No, that is just what he deemed to be a safe distance. He has a dog door in the side of the house and ducked in and out to keep an eye on things.:)

    2. Pretty prudent. :)

  8. Wow, you've certainly had your work cut out for you; that's a LOT of snow you've moved. (It's sort of appropriate that when I started to type this I accidentally hit the letter e instead of w at the end of wow, so it said woe.) The sky over your house looks ominous, too. I hope the blue skies we see a peek of are headed your way. It's about time at least for some sunshine.

  11. Oh they must have loved that! Be careful though, they will keep expecting that to be their new stomping grounds.

  12. So good they could get out for a walk !! My donkeys are stuck inside the stable at the moment due to too much rain... They just can't get through the mud in the paddock..
I hope the snow you have will soon disappear !

  13. What a great idea! Your driveway looks pristine. We are freezing here and the horses were in until 2:30. -25 windchill but now the sun is out. Our hydrant in the barn is frozen. Just what we need. It worked fine last night and now we can't use it. Guess we will be hauling water from the house. What did you do to defrost yours? Didn't you have a frozen pipe awhile ago? I am so beyond reaching my capacity!!!!

  14. I have been enjoying your blog so much. I live in relatively temperate North Carolina and I am so impressed by that driveway. If I had done that much work, I would want the rest of the year off. How is Ramsey's foot handling the cold? I am currently rehabbing a rotated laminitic Welsh pony and the cold has been a bit of a trial.
