Crazy Wind

This insane weather has everybody a little nuts.  We had arctic freeze last week then the temps shot up into the fifties long enough to have everything melt and get several inches of torrential rain.  Now we're headed, at warp speed, back into the deep freeze.  The horses and donkeys were just plain nutty this morning.  The horses didn't want to run around in the God-awful semi-frozen mud, but they couldn't contain themselves either.  They were bucking, kicking, farting, rearing, all within little ten-foot circles.

I just barley managed to pry the donkeys out of the barn for a brief time, but the killer wind had them racing back in no time, also bucking, kicking, rearing and zooming .  I wish I had gotten the camera out faster, it's hard to describe what's its like to have two crazy donkeys zooming around the interior of my little barn like a pinball machine gone berserk.  This little video is after the worst of the chaos...

Sorry I had to cut it off, but I still need that glove!

    1. You could set up some "paddock paradise" tracks around some of your fields. I am worried about mine having too much grass as well and I have been thinking about setting something like that up here.

  3. Ramsey has the oddest hair on his head....Makes him totally to darn adorable! Emma? What was she doing? Trying to lay down, or trying to turn the board floor into dirt. She is adorable!

    1. Mostly, she was in a bit of a snit due to the weather. She wanted to take a dust bath, but the rubber mats aren't so good for that; she wanted to run around, but the footing is treacherous and the wind is howling; she wanted Gabe to go away, but he is too big.:)

  4. I love the little squeaks that Ramsey makes. I love that Gabe and Tessa hang over the stall to watch the donkey antics and I love that Ramsey teases Emma with the glove. If they had their own glove, would they eat it?

    1. I wouldn't trust them not to. I have to be very careful with ropes and twine, Ramsey is forever trying to eat those.

    1. No, but she will be in a couple of days. Coming into heat is a bit of a novelty for her still. She just started to a few months ago and it seems to confuse her a bit.
