The Zoomerang

Note to self (again), donkeys are not like horses!!!  Horse foals stay glued to their mother's side when first born and explore the world slowly, tentatively, with caution.  Donkey babies, at least this one, have a slightly different approach....
I had (foolishly again) thought that he would stay close to Emma and learn about the terrain and obstacles slowly, the way a baby horse would.  When he started wanting to go faster I could put him out in the big, open field and let him run.  He totally skipped that and went straight to zooming around and the more obstacles the better.  He loves zipping around everything.  He especially loves my garden beds and the little "maze" that they make and the posts of the would-be wood shed.

I might have a name picked out.  I will tell you about it tomorrow, I'm too tired to even remember it right now.

  12. What fun! I think he likes the sound of his hooves on the wood. I sure do. It is amazing to think that he came out of Emma. He is so big.

  13. Michaele, that is EXACTLY what I was thinking! He seems so intrigued by the noise. Also, I bet the different textures and vibrations feel especially strange on those new feet of his.
    Mom looks unimpressed, haha!

  14. I just love that little rascal. I would love to see him ( aka Firecracker) and Zenyatta's Baby Z-12 run aroun and play. Your little donkey sure could give that thoroughbred baby a run for his money. He is having way too much fun and loving his life. Mom seems unfazed. Thank you so much for these videos.

  16. How cute he is! After watching George and Alan play at The Obama Diary I wonder if he's wanting a friend to play with. If he was in a herd he would be with a bunch of other babies racing and jostling each other. He has so much energy! Thanks for the pictures and videos.
