The Right Toy

In case you are wondering, the favorite toys are rubber feed dishes, an old grazing muzzle (which has been demolished down to its component atoms), the top calf-portion of my old boots that I cut off....and fly masks.

Toys need to be flexible....

easy to grab...

have room for two donkeys....

and they need to be tough....

because they take a lot of abuse.

Important Life Lessons

A few weeks ago, a friend came for a visit and brought a new party trick for everyone.  There was much fascination and interest...

Everyone gathered around for introductions and lessons on the proper use of this most vital of American Icons.

There was some definite skepticism and mutterings about danger and frivolity....

But eventually, the lure became too great and Emma (the philosopher), decided it was worth the risk.

Because every donkey needs a rubber chicken.

Right?

Right??

And then the police showed up and reminded everyone about the danger of gateway drugs and confiscated the contraband.

A Visit With Ramsey

From my visit with Ramsey yesterday....

Aroma therapy for donkey babies.  I stuffed the middle of his favorite toy with Emma's hair.  He plays with it whenever he is alone in his stall....

No more IV and drinking on his own...

Playing tug-o-war and showing off part of his spiffy new hair cut...I might have to find him a leg warmer.  Are those back in style yet?

"i WIN!"

"HOW ABOUT A REMATCH?  i'LL EVEN LET YOU USE BOTH HANDS, just as long as you put that camera thingie down and use them for scratching.  i've got another itch..."

Is this what you'd call a one-legged-reverse-Mohawk?  It's what all the fashionable donkeys are wearing this season.

I tried to get the the vets to let me take their picture with Ramsey, but they were camera shy.  I've never seen a barn aisle at Cornell clear out so fast.

Emma Goes to Work

Emma's been practicing for the road crews.  She doesn't think I have been providing enough carrots so she swears she is going to go get a job at the town barn and buy her own damn carrots.  She says she is perfectly willing to spend the day moving cones....

 acting as a warning barrier...
directing traffic....
 working as the "follow-me" car.....
and providing detour signs.....

Maybe I should just go get more carrots.
