Once I finally decided to have someone fix the deck, I also decided to have them just finish this job once and for all. That funny looking gate-to-nowhere in the middle of the deck railing is where I always planned to build a staircase. That plan got waylaid by the frost and I have lost all enthusiasm for finishing this project myself. I just wanted it done. I was more than a bit apprehensive about having this built since past experience has not been good, but these guys did a great job and I now have stairs....
No fancy elevators, hoists or sliding pole like some may have been hoping for, but I am very happy with the work anyways. They did a great job and I am glad to have this project finished. I have a couple of other projects in mind and I will certainly have these guys come back if I can figure out how to pay for everything. That is always the biggest hurdle. If anyone local needs a builder, I recommend Perry's Amish Construction 607-349-3746
Of course, they did have a bit of extra "help" and "supervision". The new farm manager took his job very seriously.
Sliding pole! :) Why didn't I think of that?! (I did think of a NY-style fire escape ladder thingy, though.)
ReplyDeleteWell, congratulations Part 2! The stairs, aside from being practical, certainly add a touch of "mansion" to your home; what a great idea! And your new Farm Manager looks quite competent already. And cute!!
This looks great! I really like the deck and stairs! Looks like Connor enjoyed the work.
ReplyDeleteLooks great! And looks like someone'd like their dirt pile back ;-).
ReplyDeleteConner must have had a great time, supervising all those guys. My Rottie was always right in the middle of any construction project, also. How did Conner react to strangers on the property?
ReplyDeleteAfter some initial shyness, he thought they were great. He spent two days trying to teach them how to play. He had a grand time.
DeleteWow! Those Amish get the job done! Nice looking stairs. Is that big table still on the deck?
ReplyDeleteThey did a beautiful job! Deck & stairs look great!
ReplyDeleteNICE and you will really enjoy that deck now that you can actually USE it!
ReplyDeleteOne of my kitties is a good workperson supervisor. I had some renovations done and I spent a lot of time picking grout and paint out of her fur...
ReplyDeleteGreat idea. It really works!
ReplyDeleteI was wondering what that gate was for...and now I know. I can't wait for us to get started on a bit of remodeling here ourselves! Thank goodness it will be hired or it could take a very very long time!
ReplyDeleteThese stairs are multi-purpose, too! For instance, when you have lots of snow, you could turn it into a slide for Connor&Friends! ;)
ReplyDeleteI wonder if the Farm Manager has tested, and approved of, the stairs yet?
He is not yet convinced that they are safe, which is a bit odd since he flies p and down the stairs inside the house. There is no arguing with BC logic though.
Delete:) No, you are right. Though he may revise his own logic sometime soon(er or later). Wheee!...
DeleteIt looks like they did a good job, Kris!
