Still Here

We're all still here.  The new job is intense, exhausting, interesting.  Hard but mostly good.  I talk to people who have been positively diagnosed with COVID all day.  Some have no symptoms, some have the sniffles, some are really, really sick.  Some can't talk to me because they aren't ever going to speak to anyone ever again.

Mostly, the people who get tested are the ones who can afford it if they need to stay home.  They have sick leave and savings. Jobs they can go back to.  The ones who can't afford it are mostly doing what they always do - survive or die quietly.

This isn't the flu and everyone should have worn their Goddamm masks last March.

  1. Sorry your job is hard. I hope it will level out soon.

Beautiful critters. The donkey brigade looks great.

  2. Yes, yes...and I agree regarding masks and taking this seriously.
This job must also take an emotional toll on you.
Thank goodness for your wonderful and beautiful animals.

  3. Oh, Kris. Still, today, there are people who don't believe. I'm sorry you are going through this, but glad you have a job. Love the pictures.

  4. Amen. But it would have helped immeasurably if people in power had said that loudly and often while unfailingly wearing masks themselves. Some of them should be tried for murder, others for manslaughter.

  5. Yup, agreed. Everyone should have worn their mask last March and should still be wearing them today. We are fortunate here to both be retired and not very social so the fact that we are not really doing much differently is a plus. But it is becoming a drag not being able to visit and hug people that we love.
    Stay safe and healthy Kris.

  6. Pretty crazy down here in So. CALIFORNIA. I got my first vaccine dose on Pfizer. I’m 76. It wasn’t easy signing up.masks help lots of people bemoan them. But this Covid is no joke. So far we are ok. But as some say. Haven’t done much socializing. Miss hugging. All your animals are so beautiful

  10. Good comment. It's just unbelievable that so many people died because politicians wanted to make a health crisis into an ideological game. If the human race had started off that way, we'd never have made it beyond the stone age! Lovely donkeys in the snow. My four donks are doing well, here in the sunshine in Spain. Keep safe.

  11. I'm proud of us in Oz. If we get a single case outside of the quarantine hotels, we lock down hard for a short time and then we're good to go again and life can return to almost normal. We're one of the most regulated countries in the world, and at times all the bureaucracy can be annoying, but right now I'm very glad we know how to do what we're told for the greater good, because we're also currently one of the most free countries too.
