The Briar Patch

The berries have been really late this year from all the excess rain.  The bushes are loaded, but many of the green berries just fall off before they ever ripen.  I wasn't sure we would find any at all, but this afternoon we finally found a raspberry bush that looked promising.  My helper went in to check it out and report back.

He is an expert on such matters and a true connoisseur.  He looked high...

and low....

found the best path into the tangled briars...

sampled the wares and gave them the tongue-up sign.  Time to start picking.

  1. Yum! My Huckleberry and Blue, who look a lot like your dog, like to help pick Huckleberries. So cute the way they're so careful with their lips, selecting just the right berry.

Morris my JRT eats berries right off the bush too!

  3. Blossom will eat raspberries off the bush, but not out of a box. Go figure.

  5. Someone once told me the wild berries are the best. I think anything freshly picked is best :)

  6. Brilliant! Our pups have been 'testing' my blackcurrant bushes - hmmm. I dread apple fall time too as it plays havoc with them but I'm never quick enough to collect all the windfalls..... oh well part of the fun of living in the countryside :-) Have a nice weekend!
