  2. Nothing escapes their attention! - I just noticed that yellow sign, Children at play... Really? If so, I hope Emma and Ramsey have no complaints about them. ;)

    1. There are children there, they moved in last Spring. They like to come over and dole out carrots and apples so the herd thinks quite highly of them. It worries me a bit, especially since the 2 youngest, a girl of about 3 and a boy maybe 5-6, took it upon themselves to hike all the way across the field last summer and show up at my barn. They were wearing flip-flops and their hands were bulging with carrots. Thank God everyone was in the barn and Gabe didn't find them. He can be very pushy about food. I had to escort them home and ask their mom to please not let them come into my pasture alone like that. I hate to discourage their interest, but the thought of a screamy toddler, a 3 month old donkey and a large greedy horse is a tad worrisome.

    2. Goodness. That's just what you needed: more things to worry about. Although I do understand. If I were one of those kids, I'd probably come begging every day to let me brush the animals... Oh, incidentally, your herd always looks like they've just been brushed!
Thanks much for your reply :)

    3. Yeah, I kinda struggle with that. I remember when I was a child, I loved feeding apples to the horse down the road. It was a real highlight for me. Now that I am the landowner who also worries about what my animals are ingesting, it is a bit different. As for the herd looking well groomed...you should see them today.
