Proper Grooming Part 2 - Professional Help

There are times when the do-it-yourself method just doesn't cut it and you need some extra help.  Which is why it is so important to have good friends and family to call on when needed.

"YO MOM, i GOT A TERRIBLE ITCH, CAN YOU HELP ME OUT HERE?"

"USE THIS, IT'S MY MOST FAVORITE BRUSH." *

"Is that the spot?"

"JUST A BIT LOWER....AHHHhhhh"

"OH, DON'T STOP NOW.  MORE PLEASE."

"Alright kid, just a bit more, but then it's my turn."

"OK THEN, FAIRS FAIR, HAND IT OVER."

"YOU KNOW, THIS IS AN AWFUL LOT OF WORK.  THERE MUST BE A BETTER WAY TO DO THIS.  MAYBE WE SHOULD HIRE SOME PROFESSIONAL HELP?"
"I don't know kid, that sounds expensive and it's sooo darned hard to find good help.  You know how Ma's always going on about contractors and such.  The language she uses....my word!  Things devolve pretty quickly whenever the C word gets mentioned."

"THAT'S IT, i KNOW WHAT TO DO!  WE'LL GET MA TO DO IT!  SHE HAS THUMBS AND EVERYTHING.  AND YOU KNOW HOW SHE'S ALWAYS TELLING US HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO HAVE THE RIGHT TOOL FOR THE JOB....THUMBS, FAVORITE BRUSH...PERFECT COMBINATION, WE'D BE SET."

"HEY MA, WE GOT A JOB FOR YOU.  HERE YA GO."

*These cheap, plastic curry combs have indeed proven to be the most favorite donkey brush.  They don't much like the soft rubber ones that the horses love so much nor any of the other brushes (with the occasional exception of the metal shedding blade), but they love this.  It has also proven to be the only brush that actually works on Ramsey.  With all of his fluffy, baby hair, he is like trying to groom a cotton ball.  A big, squirmy cotton ball who loooooves rolling in the hay.

  1. Okay if I didn't know those donkeys better I'd say you photoshopped those but alas they are amazingly talented and I so adore their sense of humor (and yours)!

  2. This is adorable! It hits home, because last night, after I got tired of brushing her, Emma the beautiful Calico decided to brush herself! She loves the wire brush and was sleeping (sort of) near it on the arm of my recliner. I glanced over to see she had moved and had put her head on the wire end. Next time I looked, she was licking the wires, then put her neck over the wires as if she could brush herself! But to see your equine kids using their mouths to brush each other - fantastic!

  3. I used to use those plastic combs but one day tried the cat's Zoom Groom (by http://www.kongcompany.com) and they love it. It's also really good for removing the lose hair. Using it at the end of winter a few times brings on their summer coat beautifully. Highly recommend.

  4. How did I miss this post????
Great pics, what smart little donkeys. I wish my horses would brush each other. They just roll in the dirt instead.
