Trucking

If you live in the middle of  nowhere and you don't own a truck and trailer, moving animals at any time is a challenge let alone in an emergency.  Fortunately, I have several friends and neighbors who have been generous enough to help me get Ramsey to and from Cornell.  They all have busy lives of their own though and coordinating a trip that works for everybody can be tricky.

Luckily, a few months ago, I picked up a card off a bulletin board at Tractor Supply advertising horse trailering and it has been in my coat pocket ever since.  I have had some very terrible experiences with "truckers" so I was a bit reluctant to call the guy, but last week I decided to give it a try.  I'm glad I did.

Robert Casse is a retired military and corrections officer who is also a life long horse owner.  He is offering horse transportation as a way to supplement his retirement and offset the cost of having these trailers for his own use.

His price was fair, his equipment immaculate and in perfect condition, he was an excellent driver and was very good with Ramsey.

He also couldn't resist getting his own cell phone photo of Ramsey at Cornell.  So, if you are in the Northeast and you ever think you'll need an equine moved, you might want to keep his phone number handy.  If I can't get this thing with Gabe figured out, I may just be calling him again myself.

  2. I'm so glad for you and your equines that you picked the card, kept it, and used the phone number!!! Robert (Bob?) looks as though he really enjoyed being with your adorable Ramsey.

  3. I am so glad you found someone reliable. We are in the same boat, after 8 years. We had an OLD one-horse trailer... but had no title for it... it was given to us. We were always afraid to use it, and finally traded it to someone for some labor. (We were afraid because of no title or lights on it). We need a two horse trailer, too. I'm always glad to see honest people who are reliable getting a leg up from someone who recognizes their worth. And Ramsey looks totally confident in that last picture!
