Date Night

"So, how do I look?  Is this a good angle?  I'm really not sure these shoes match, the colors seem a bit off."

Oh well, they'll just have to do.  I don't want to be late.

Where is he? Gosh, I hope he's coming.  He said he's coming.  He better not stand me up!

Where is he?!

Oh, there you are!

My one true love.....

Tell us more about RB and her horse. I know she lives on a nearby farm but what does she farm?
How many horses? How's her Maremma sibling doing? Does her chef Mom live with her? etc, etc.

    1. Hi Shelley, This guy Tessa is in love with is my Tenn.Walker, Hawkeye. (You may remember his feet from previous posts.) My 'farm' is about a mile or so from Kris' and we meet up the hill to go on our rides through those woods. I have one other horse at home, Izolde an Arabian mare who is now 28 years old. The little mare I bought in the fall of 2014, Bailey, did not work out so she is now with someone who is able to work with her quirks. Now, as far as farming goes, I don't consider myself a farmer but I do have guinea hens(think of the Freaky Five) and we have in the last 3 years started making our own hay. In the summer months I raise chickens for the table. My mom who lives next door has the vegetable garden(and the green thumb to go with it). We have started a new-to-us veggie garden system this year using some of last years not-so-good hay bales. So far, so good, keep your fingers crossed.
The maremma's are just great dogs!! Miss Maggie, Bess' sister is doing wonderful. Their mother Renata also lives with us and she is great company for Mags as we don't really have livestock that need guarding. There has really been a noticeable decline in deer-damaged flower-vegetable gardens though, what a bonus! We just love our maremmas!!

    2. Wow! Thanks RB. I think this might be the first time we've seen you on the blog.

It looks like Hawkeye returns Tessa's love or else he's a real gentleman!

  5. That could not be sweeter. True Romance. My 9 year old shepherd has a "walking buddy" a 14 month old male German Shepherd. He is her heart..... She adores him. Let's him get first dibs on treats. So amazing as she is an "alpha girl" and not really into other dogs. She only has 3 other dog friends since she was about 2 months old. But the day he walked into her life at 4 months old, he has her heart and soul. Today we will walk and she is on air!!! Tessa is such a beautiful horse and I may have mentioned this in prior posts, that is the name of my shepherd. I only wish we had woods to walk in like yours. I did walk in the woods by the Monks of New Skete and they are gorgeous. Great photos of both horses. Such a treat.

  9. Is Tessa the only horse on your property living with the donkeys? If so, maybe she misses being around other horses. I say this because when I had my miniature horse and would bring him over to a friend's place when we went on vacation, he would be out with her minature donkeys and though they got along, he preferred to stand by the fence next to the other horses on the other side of the fence. Just wondering if horses prefer other horses as opposed to donkeys. Though, they do look like they really love each other and happy to see each other.
