The End of the Cold War

I've seen a few hints here and there over the past few weeks along with a couple of tentative overtures and then, yesterday, Ben and Albert finally decided to be buddies.  It took 18 months for Ben and Ramsey to be friends, but only half that for these two.  Definite progress:)

Donkeys do things in their own time and their own way, and there is no way to change that and let them still be donkeys.  It may not seem like a big thing to us, but a change in the herd is a big deal them.  The only thing we can do is make sure that they have all the things they need to be healthy and happy - food they don't have to fight over, enough space that the they never feel crowded, a shelter they feel safe and comfortable in and time enough to learn that they can trust all of it.  We could probably end all wars if we could figure out how to give those few things to everyone.

Round and Round the Merry-Go-Round

Ramsey and Albert have broken the play barrier.  I think Ben gets all the credit for teaching Ramsey how to play.  Lord knows it took awhile, but Ben's patience has paid off and Al is certainly enjoying the fruits of Ben's labor.

I told Ramsey that he better work on his stamina since he now has to play with Ben AND Albert.

Boys Are Sooo Dumb

"Sigh."

"Do you see them back there?  See what I have to put up with now?"

"Round and round and up and down they go."

"It's just an empty feed dish they're trying to destroy."

"Boys."

"What is the point?"

This Will Make You Happy!

For all my readers who have been with me from the start; through Ramsey's birth, his surgery and two week stay at Cornell.  Through all the looong months of rehab after.  Through two bouts of Lyme disease.  Through Ben's canker, Cushing's and his fight with tick borne disease and the laminitis it caused.  Through all of Ramsey's jealous sulks over having his world invaded by a new donkey....

I hope this little video makes you as happy as it makes me.  Thanks for sticking with us through all the tough times so we can enjoy the moment of pure fun.
