Lion Hunting

I was out snowblowing this afternoon, again, knowing it to be a futile task because the insane wind would just blow it all back in a matter of hours.  Also knowing that I had to keep at it or else the snow would pile up in drifts so deep I wouldn't even be able to snowshoe out, let alone drive or even get to the barn.  In that odd sort of sensory deprivation that goes along with such a miserable, mindless job, my mind kept circling around the 'in with a lion...' posts I'd seen or heard this morning and I found myself daydreaming about all the ways I'd like to hunt down and stomp the hell out that lion.

So, this is what winter has reduced me to.  Me, who hates hunting and opposes any form of animal cruelty ruduced to fantasizing about murdering metaphorical lions.  There is just so much wrong with that.

For the first time ever, even Farm Buddy keeps talking about wanting to go to Florida for a week.  Even her unending, chirpy optimism has dimmed and the mutterings are starting to sound an awful lot like red rum, red rum these days.

Anybody know the best way to do away with lions?

  1. well I would say 'wine' but that probably is not the best solution. :) Other bloggers are hitting the ice cream. Me, I just keep telling myself that it's march so it's almost over. This morning it was bitter cold but I consoled myself with the idea that it's the coldest morning I'll have to experience. Right? RIGHT?

  2. You're much stronger than I am -- I'd never make it. I've been watching the Jet Stream and you just can't seem to catch a break. The Jet Stream just keeps you on it's Canada side. BUT -- you shall overcome!

  3. I feel it loud and clear. I took my metaphorical machine gun and shot at the March Lion. However The Lion is still putting ice on top of our snow.

  4. Get a lamb?
Or, better yet, let's trade places and I'll handle the lion for you - we haven't had winter all winter!

  5. The cattle have walked OVER the fence and into the road, despite the fact that they have all the second-cutting hay they want and I am their servant. Need I say more?

  6. Oh blog readers... in case you are wondering how they can walk over three wires of high-tensile wire fence that would be because the snow is COVERING UP the three wires, which of course cannot be electrified since they are buried (I have since dug out the top wire and electrified it). It is tough on a farmer when she has not yet had her milk and chocolate and an evil steer is thumbing his nose at her and laughing when she runs hysterically after him.

  7. You are allowed to have dark thoughts for all you have been through. Are you considering Florida?
