Throw Aways

I think I mentioned that someone dumped a box full of kittens and their mother at the end of farm buddy's driveway a while ago?  We found homes for those kittens and made an appointment to have the mother spayed. The weather interfered with her appointment and as the days went by, Miss Marigold started getting suspiciously large.  Three weeks ago, these showed up...

Nothing like having a box of kittens dumped off with the added bonus of another litter on the way.  I am not going to get into how I feel about people who dump cardboard boxes full of kittens on the side of the road.  Nor am I going to go into the stupidity inherent in the idea that "all farms want more cats".  If I get started down that route, I'll be typing all night.

Suffice it to say that I am not impressed with people who throw away animals with the same uncaring disregard that goes into throwing a bag of garbage out the car window.

With all of that left unsaid, we just need to find homes for another bunch of throw-aways.  They will be ready to go in about 5 weeks.

All that is required is a promise to take care of them, get them neutered and not throw them away again.

Marigold, the mother, has a home waiting for her with Farm buddy's sister when the kittens are weaned.  She is an excellent mother, but these will be her last kittens as she will be spayed as soon as possible.

That leaves five very well socialized, friendly, healthy kittens looking for good homes.

Would anyone like to adopt a little throw-away?

  1. I would love to have the yellow one, but I live to far away to pick one up! My sentiments EXACTLY! I could go on and on too, but I won't! Good luck and I hope each and every one of them finds homes that will love them unconditionally and forever!

  2. Actually I would take one if I didn't live on the other side of the continent. They are cuties for sure. I agree, I hate people who throw away animals like that.

  4. oh, mother and babies are all so beautiful. i wish i could take them as our barn is empty right now, but with my pups, i can't chance that they won't kill them. even an adult cat would be risky. *sigh*

  7. I wish we were so much closer to you, Kris... they are darling! We have a problem here in our area with people dumping dogs, too... and oddly enough, people stealing dogs!

  8. They are so cute. Don't get me started on people who have animals then get rid of them for the most ridiculous reasons. xx

  9. Actually wonder if you could put these on Craig's list or something like that for your area? I don't know how well that works, but maybe someone else has a good idea about that.
I witnessed as a kid people dumping puppies on the side of a highway. Cars were swerving to avoid them, we were on horseback and managed to catch a bony little dog.
My grandpa had lost his and we took her to him.
He fell in instant love with 'Freckles'.
    Dang people...so cruel.

    1. Even finding homes on Craig's List has its down side. Everyone may have heard the story of Puppy Doe, a poor dog given away on Craig's List to a monster who beat, stabbed and tortured him and left him for dead in a suburban Boston park. I suspect that a person dumping a box of kittens at someone's mailbox must have suspected that the person would find a solution they were too lazy to find on their own. It turns out they were right. I hope you find good homes for them.

  10. All of mine were throwaways... humans are the lowest form of life on a regular basis I'm afraid.

My vet keeps kittens that folks have rescued in a large dog crate in their lobby for adopting... maybe someone in your area does that? Good luck - they are adorable. :D

  11. Throw away kitties, puppies, chicks, horses, and kids! We adopted two girls from Russia twelve years ago, they were9 and 12! And of course the kitties and pups from the pound! Good luck and thanks to you they now have a wonderful chance at a sweet life!

  12. I honestly wish I could take them all. How sweet! The two cats we have now, we rescued...and our dog! We carried our trash to the dumpster this morning and someone had dropped off two puppies. My husband said "no"! Hopefully, the older man running the place carried them home. He was talking about it. Poor innocent animals. People who can dump animals are heartless and cruel. Thank you for taking care of the cat and kittens!

  14. Wow, those tabbies are sort of minimal torties at the same time! Very cute! They are going to grow into very handsome cats! The Ms on their foreheads mean they will be good mousers, or so I was told when I were a lass. :) I have a rescued ginger boy here who is getting a bit staid in his upper-middle age. Been thinking he might like a nice little girl kittie to squire about and give him a new lease of life (both desexed of course) but wrong country, sadly. Good luck with the homes. I second the suggestion of the local vet. Both of our local vet surgeries often have rescue kittens or adults in the waiting room 'waiting' for new homes. They have a good idea who will be good owners because they are already clients.

    1. Actually, kittens will only be good mousers if their mother is ;)

    1. Unfortunately, that would be a bit of a drive as I am in NY. I have no doubt though that there are some nice kitties near you who need a home:)
