And speaking of weeds, he sure is growing like one. I have been measuring him each week and he is averaging exactly one inch per week. Each time I measure him, he is an inch taller and an inch longer. Seven inches in seven weeks has put him at 70 pounds and 34 inches tall.
Emma has made it to 44 inches and it will be interesting to see if she grows any taller. It would not surprise me if Ramsey actually gets to be a bit bigger than her considering just how well Emma is feeding him. And as for feed...last weekend, Ramsey figured out what all the fuss is about when the word "breakfast" is uttered...
I ought to mention that donkeys shouldn't normally have grain. However, they don't normally have babies before they are two years old either. Special circumstances call for special feeding.
I am keeping a very close eye on her weight, but I think that as long as she is lactating, she will need some extra food. It takes an awful lot of energy to create an extra inch of donkey every week...
That photo of Ramsey in the garden is a keeper. He looks so small!
ReplyDeleteFeeling better?
I feel much better, thanks. I'm still having some issues with my vision, but it should wear off soon. Otherwise, I feel good.
DeleteThe both look wonderful! Soon he will demand his own dish.
ReplyDeleteIt's on my shopping list:)
DeleteYou have such an interesting blog!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rebecca2. It's got to be fun or why bother, right? I'm glad you are enjoying the blog.
DeleteHa ha, love your little weed! I'm really enjoying your Emma & Ramsey posts, can't own a donkey right now - so I'm living vicariously through you. They are precious!!
ReplyDeleteEveryone needs some donkeys in their lives, even if only vicariously. Glad you are able to enjoy them.
DeleteRamsey, now that your eating I see serious training with treats in your near future!
ReplyDeleteI love it when you can bribe them.
Nothing like being able to give a donkey a good reason for doing what you want:).
DeleteI've been lucky so far, Ramsey loves attention so much that I haven't even needed food. I can still shove him around if I have to as well, but that isn't going to last much longer at the rate he is going.
Too cute. What an awesome mama and baby :)
ReplyDeleteMight there be some baby donkeys in your future Bif????
DeleteEvery Ramsey and Emma posts, just brings a smile to my face and a tug at my heart! LOVE THEM! And, YES that boy is sure growing!
