I did purchase two nets. They are huge! Never thought of putting over the top of a bale of hay though. Like you, I do worry also that Star would get her feet caught in it, and that Libby would get so frustrated that she would chew on it...I do use them for periods of feeding...like if it is extra cold out, and I give them lunch, but then it is only suppervised, and I am running out to the pasture every 1/2 to check on them.
